Week 1: How To Be An Ally

To kick off our Pride Month campaign, we will launch a social media campaign centered around “how to be an ally.” Through informative posts, we will provide valuable tips and insights on how each of us can play a role in creating a more inclusive environment. By engaging with our community and sharing these resources, we aim to inspire educational growth, understanding, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Additionally, for all engagements on social media during this week, Student Quarters will be donating to PFLAG, an organization dedicated to promoting the well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families.

Week 2: Pride Panel and Educational Learning Session

In our commitment to fostering knowledge and understanding, we will host a Pride Panel and an educational learning session during the second week of our campaign. By partnering with PFLAG, we will create an inclusive space for open dialogue, where employees can engage with experts and community members to gain a deeper understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues. These events will provide invaluable opportunities for learning, breaking down stereotypes, and fostering empathy and respect within the community.

Week 3: SQuad’s Walk for Equality

Promoting both physical well-being and equality, we are excited to announce SQuad’s Walk for Equality during the third week of our campaign. We invite all SQuad members, their families, and friends to participate by walking or running a mile (or more.) As we embark on this collective journey, we encourage participants to document their experiences and share their stories, creating a sense of unity and empowerment. For every mile completed, Student Quarters will donate $3 to the Trevor Project, an organization providing vital support and crisis intervention services for LGBTQIA+ youth.

Week 4: Pride Bingo and Trivia

As we near the end of our Pride Month campaign, we will engage our community in some exciting activities. During the fourth week, we will distribute pride-themed bingo cards to participants, challenging them to complete nine squares in their own time. Upon returning the completed cards, participants will have the opportunity to contribute to donations for the Point Foundation. By supporting this organization, which provides scholarships, mentorship, and support to LGBTQIA+ students pursuing higher education, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of young individuals.

All Month: Inclusivity and Local Support

In addition to our weekly activities, we have implemented several initiatives to create a more inclusive environment. We are thrilled to offer pride-themed virtual backgrounds for team meetings, providing a visually engaging way for employees to express their support and celebrate diversity. Furthermore, we have designed “safe space” rainbow magnets to be placed throughout our properties, serving as a visible symbol of our commitment to fostering a safe and accepting space for everyone.

As part of our community involvement, we are proud to sponsor the ATL Pride Run, a local event promoting LGBTQIA+ support. By contributing funds towards water bottles and popsicles, we not only show our support for the event but also encourage our employees to participate. We believe that active involvement in such events helps amplify our message of inclusivity and acceptance.
